Do Dham Travel Guide

Everyone aspires to visit Kedarnath and Badrinath at least once in their lives since they are not only well-known Hindu pilgrimage sites but also for their spirituality and legendary stories. These sites attract devotees from all around the world seeking spiritual redemption and enlightenment.

To plan your next Do-Dham trip, here is the Do-Dham travel guide with all the information that you need to plan a hassle-free tour.

Things To Know Before Planning a Trip to Kedarnath

For your convenience, we have prepared the ultimate Kedarnath travel guide, which includes all of the necessary information for your Kedarnath trip.

Best time to Visit

May to June is considered the best time to visit Kedar-Badri. You can’t visit here throughout the year as it closes due to heavy rainfall.

Where to Stay?

There are several hotels, homestays, hostels, and BnBs along the road, as well as budget-friendly government GMVN guest houses. We would suggest pre-book your stays as it gets heavily crowded in this time period.

What to eat?

You can get plenty of Dhaba and restaurants during Do Dham trip. Don’t forget to try out pahadi cuisine and street foods.

What to Pack?

  • Backpack - A comfortable, robust backpack with cushioned straps is great for the hike.
  • Clothing - Pack hiking trousers and a few tees. The key here is proper layering, since afternoons may get rather warm, especially during the trip, yet mornings and evenings are cool. A base layer, a cozy fleece, and a dependable jacket keep you comfortable in a variety of weather situations.
  • Sleeping bags - While we chose not to bring sleeping bags, having a few bedsheets on hand proved to be useful. This came in useful when we discovered less-than-clean bedding at our lodgings.

Places you can visit during the Trip

  • Bhairavnath temple
  • Tungnath
  • Sonprayag
  • Badrinath Temple
  • Alaknanda River
  • Chandrashila
  • Guptakashi

Things you can do here

  • Trekking
  • Witness magical sunset
  • Take a bath in the Alaknada River
  • Stunning mountain sights
  • Trek to Chorabari Tal

Insider’s Tip

  • Carry plenty of cash because there are few ATMs after Rishikesh.
  • Beware of fake promises to deliver the greatest darshan.
  • Bring suitable winter jackets and raincoats because the weather is often unpredictable there.
  • Wear good hiking shoes since the steep roads are quite difficult to walk.
  • Carry medications and a first-aid kit, such as AMS medicine, paracetamol, and medications for stomach distress, vomiting, and headaches.
  • Have ID evidence of original copies, which may be requested.
